Another week, another Monday. That was the thought that was hard to hide today last night. Now its Tuesday and this post would have been up yesterday but with very Monday-like precision, my net gave out just as I needed it to be up to add in the pictures and post.
But I have to admit, except for the fact that its kicking off another week of the same-old-same-old and signals the weekends passing, Monday’s don’t bother me so much these days. Its just another day of the week. Maybe I’m just in a cheerier frame these few weeks (tired-ness and all) or maybe genuine breakthrough on a personal level, who know? Honestly, I don’t and in no mood to brood and think on it! Of course it could be this past weekends ComicAddicts MiniCon that has me feeling more pleased but I think thats just a part of it, being rather recent and all that!
But now on the stuff at hand – another edition of cocktail blogging! After all we all need some laughs at the start of the week, something to divert our mind from the drudgery until we get past the initial ennui. So today we have some laughs, some awesomeness and some serious loveliness, all vying for your attention. Shall we begin? Good!
To start off I wanted to bring in some laughs and so it shall be! Some of you might be familiar with a little site called FMyLife – if you don’t you really should try it! – that is brilliant and every time I think life blows I drop in and realise “yes, it could be worse…”. Its been like a spiritual re-affirmation device for me for ages now! Thank you FML posters!! So what this leads to for the ones who already know it is a new discovery: Clients from Hell. Another FML kind of site but this one is for professionals only (kind of like the difference between facebook and linkedin I suppose) and more specifically appears to be more concerned with people who work in I.T. and it amazes me the sheer stupidity of some of the people they have to deal with – utterly remarkable! Shows that ol’ Albert E. was right when he said “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the the universe.”
A sampling from the site:
(1) “My techie guy informed me that there are cookies stored in my computer, in the Windows XP part of it. I have no idea what he meant by that, or how they could’ve gotten there, but he’s gone for the weekend, so I’ll need your help getting them out. I’ve had this computer for two years—those cookies have almost certainly gone bad by now.”
(2) Client: “The theme of the ad is ‘We’re turning prices upside down!’ so we want the ad to be upside down.”
Me: “It’s in the printer…”
Client: (picks up one of the copies) “But what’s it going to look like upside down?”
I take the paper, flip it upside down and hand it back.
Client: “No, no, it’s still not upside down!”
Me: “…”
So there you have it… now go, read it, shake your head just as I did and have yourself a good chuckle and feel better about yourself. Sure people will tell you not to make fun of others and feel better at anothers expense – and they’re right. But some people are just asking for it. It’s the reason we HAVE sites like these and things like the Darwin Awards (which are brilliant if I may say).
Next up we have some amazingly beautiful images from a river called Caño Cristales (a.k.a “The River of Five Colors,” “The Liquid Rainbow” or even “The Most Beautiful River in the World”) in Columbia. The river is truly unlike anything I have ever seen and HAD to share it with you all, so I’m going to just shut up and share some of the images and for more go HERE and see a plethora of fantastic images.
Believe it or not, these images have been sitting in my “for blog” folder on my desktop for the better part of a month now – don’t ask why, I can’t answer that if I wanted to – so I’m so glad to be able to share them with you now.
And lastly, before I take your leave and start work on tomorrows article for my ComicAddicts column, allow me to leave you with just a bit more stunning imagery that almost made my brain shut down. And so, from the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony are Shakira and Sofia Vergara:
…and now I’ll say a merry “Cheers!” and see you not too long from now…
Those photos are spectacular! 🙂
That AlbertiEinstein quote is a gem, too. If I didn’t know better, I’d think Douglas Adams wrote it! LOL
Yeah, Einstein was a pretty cool guy for such an intellectual – its one of the reasons I respect him so much. 😀 and yeah it is pretty Adams-ish!
Wish I could take credit for those pictures, but someday I do hope to go there and take some of my own. 🙂
Enjoyed reading this, very good stuff, thanks . “Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish.” by Euripides.
Appreciate it, thanks!
